Orange Rolls



In small saucepan heat until dissolved:
1 c hot water
1/2 c shortening
1/2 c sugar
2 t salt
Set aside to cool to lukewarm. 
In large bowl combine:          
2 T yeast
1/4 c water
1 t sugar
Let stand until dissolved.
Beat 3 eggs well and add to yeast mixture.  Add cooled sugar and shortening.  Add 4 1/2 c sifted flour.  Beat until smooth.  Let rise until double (about 20 minutes)  beat down.  Grease top and cover and refrigerate at least 8 hours.  Roll out about 4 hours before use.  Divide into 3 parts.  Use one at a time.  Roll out about 12 X 14 inches long.  Spread with orange butter mixture.  Grease muffin tins, cut into 12 rolls.  Repeat for each section.  Bake at 400 for 10 minutes.
Orange Butter Mixture:  6 Tbs. soft butter or margarine, grated rind of one orange, and ½ cup sugar.
