Mix:
2 1/2 c sugar
1/2 c shortening
4 eggs
1 T salt
2 t vanilla
1 pt mashed potatoes or more
1 qt warm water
Dissolve and add to:
7 T active dry yeast
1 c water
Add:
12-15 c flour or enough to make a
nice soft dough
Let rise until double. Cut with doughnut cutter, let rise on floured
cloth. Fry at 400 until golden brown.
